Education

Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd offers Christian education programs for children through adults.

Sunday School

Sunday School is available for ages 3 years old through high school. Classes run from 10:15am to  11:15am Sunday mornings September to May.

All are welcome!

Join the Sunday School Facebook group.

Registration and signed Medical Release Forms are required for all children, even if they have attended in the past.

Program Goals

Tie God’s Word and the teachings of Martin Luther into the daily lives of the children; guide the children to grow and live in faith; teach of God’s love and forgiveness through Jesus Christ; and walk alongside parents and support them in this important responsibility.

Curriculum

The curriculum is customized to meet the specific needs of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. The weekly lessons follow the ELCA Lectionary and Luther’s Small Catechism.  Children in Kindergarten through 5th grade will usually study the same Bible stories taught in worship service.  Families can then share the lesson and grow in faith together as individuals and families.

In addition to a weekly Bible story, the children will learn Lutheran traditions and beliefs through discussion, games, and activities. They will continue to review and build on their knowledge each year.

Class Locations

All Sunday School classrooms are on the second floor, except the Preschool, which is in the Preschool area near the north entrance.

Adult Education

Adult Education spans a wide array of topics. Adult Ed classes are offered during the school year (September through May) on Sunday mornings during the Sunday School hour (10:15-11:30) as well as at other times during the week. Check back for information on future offerings.
